Every ring has a home.
Sortaring takes a minute to learn. Here’s everything, from your first move to the trickiest boards.
The goal
Sort the rings so each peg holds just one color. When every ring is home, the level is done.

Moving rings
Tap a peg
Its top ring lifts up. Only the top ring of a stack can move.
Tap where it goes
The ring flies over and lands. That’s one move.
Changed your mind?
Tap the same peg again to put the ring back. It doesn’t count as a move.
The color rule
A ring can land on a ring of its own color, or on an empty peg. Every peg has room for only so many rings.

Yes: Same color

Yes: Empty peg

No: Other color

No: Full peg
Tap a peg the ring can’t go on, and you pick up that peg’s top ring instead — unless that peg is finished.
Finished pegs

When a peg holds every ring of one color, it sparkles and locks. Its rings stay put for the rest of the level, so finish a color only when you’re sure.
Moves, par and stars
Every level has a par: the fewest moves it can be solved in. A solver checked each of the 300 levels, so par is always possible.
Finish within 15% of par for three stars, within 60% for two. Any finish earns at least one.
| Par | Three stars | Two stars | One star |
|---|---|---|---|
| 4 | 4 | 6 | 7+ |
| 10 | 11 | 16 | 17+ |
| 20 | 23 | 32 | 33+ |
There’s no timer in Classic, and no way to fail. Take as long as you like.
When you’re stuck
Assists help you out of a tight spot. Most cost coins, which you earn by playing: clearing levels, solving the Daily Challenge, finishing a world and collecting daily gifts.
Undo
Takes back your last move. It costs coins in Classic, and it’s free in Zen.
Hint
From level 5Shows a good next move. If no hint can be found, you aren’t charged.
Rod
From level 10Adds a small rod that holds a single ring, once per level. A level finished with it earns one star fewer, so you can always come back for all three.
Restart
Starts the level over. Always free.
Ring twists
Later levels add two twists. The game explains each one when you first meet it — in these words:

Hidden rings
From level 21The top two rings stay visible. Rings with a ? hide their colors. Move rings to reveal more. Revealed colors stay visible; undo restores the previous view.

3Chained rings
From level 60Make 3 moves to break a top chain. Deeper chains need more moves: check the number on the lock. Each successful move counts down by 1. Rings above a chain can move normally.

Tips for tricky boards
Keep a peg empty
An empty peg takes any color. It’s your best parking spot, so try not to fill it for good.
Don’t bury a color that’s nearly done
Before you drop a ring on a stack, check what you’re covering up.
Finish the closest color first
The color with the fewest rings out of place is usually the quickest to sort.
Mind each peg’s space
A full peg can’t take another ring, even one of its own color.
Count the colors
Each color has exactly enough rings to fill one peg — every ring has a home.
